Taşımacılıkta Tehlikeli Madde Kodları Nelerdir?

Hazardous material can be defined as an object that can harm people, animals and natural life while being transported due to its structure, type, characteristics or features. In the past, there have been many disasters during the transportation of hazardous material around the world and the states have arranged some agreements in order to prevent disasters that may occur while the logistics of these materials are carried out. There are many different transportation rules in the logistics sector. Very risky substances must also be transported in a certain order and within the framework of strict rules. Hazardous materials include radioactive, flammable, explosive, suddenly flammable, toxic substances. Transportation of these materials may cause huge damages that cannot be recovered unless the necessary precautions are taken. For this reason, some necessary procedures are performed during transportation and these rules must be followed. From the production satge of hazardous materials, every person who fills, packs, loads, carries, receives and operates is under responsibility in terms of legislation. Each institution or business is obliged to keep the documents required for the transportation of these substances within itself. All activities such as the packaging stage of these hazardous substances, the characteristics of the vehicle that will carry out the transportation, delivery and receiving techniques, the properties of the substances, the marking of the weight, the training of drivers, the behavior during temporary stops, unloading activities, the destruction and recycling of the packages are the most important factors that constitute and affect the transportation of hazardous substances.

What are the Hazardous Material Codes in Transportation?

CLASS 1, Explosives: In this group, all substances from low explosion, fire risk to high explosion, fire risk are listed. The area where they are kept on board should be away from the personnel and stacked under the hatch covers. CLASS 2, Gases: Flammable Gases: They should be deployed away from all possible heat sources and at the farthest point from the personnel. CLASS 2.2, Toxic Gases: They should be kept away from all heat sources, personnel and food and beverage items. CLASS 2.3, Non-Flammable Compressed Gases: They should be stored on the deck or under the deck at cool and ventilated points. These gases expand when exposed to heat and can cause explosions. CLASS 3, Flammable Liquids: When they are heated, they are divided into three different groups by looking at the combustion points. CLASS 3.1, Gasoline: Must be positioned on deck. The combustion point is below 180 C. CLASS 3.2, Diesel: Must be stored on or under deck. The combustion point is between 230 C and 180 C. CLASS 3.3, Diesel: Must be stacked under deck because the point of combustion is between 230 C and 610 C. CLASS 4, Gases: Flammable Solids: Must be stacked under deck or on deck. They should be kept away from the living area. CLASS 4.2, Self-combustible Solids: It should be stored in well ventilated places, the places where they are positioned should provide air circulation. CLASS 4.3, Combustible Solids When Wet: These substances are combustible in contact with water. Store in ventilated and dry places. Contact with water should be avoided. CLASS 5: Substances that Increase the Risk of Burning by Releasing Oxygen. CLASS 5.1, Substances that Increase the Risk of Burning by Releasing Oxygen: These substances can release oxygen and create an environment that facilitates burning. They should not be kept with flammable substances. CLASS 5.2, Organic Peroxides: These substances can be flammable as well as have explosive properties. They should be stored in a closed, dry and airy manner on the deck. CKASS 6: Toxic Substances CLASS 6.1, Toxic, Toxic Substances: Toxic substances that can enter the human body orally may cause death. Therefore, they should be kept away from foodstuffs and living spaces. CLASS 6.2, Contaminated Substances: These substances may cause various diseases because they contain germs. They should be located away from eating, drinking and living areas. CLASS 7, Radioactive Substances: Special containers are used during the transportation of these substances. These containers must be delivered without damage. It should be stored on the deck, away from personnel living area, nutrients, drugs, cleaning areas. CLASS 8, Corrosives: Substances that have an abrasion and thickness reduction effect on human skin in contact. CLASS 9, Miscellaneous Hazardous Materials: These materilas are substances that may pose hazards during transport but do not comply with any classification. Anesthesia substances, other harmful substances and substances with increased temperature are included in this ranking. There are side effects that can harm the health of people or that they cannot fulfill their duties.
